Printing from Linux

The following instructions were written using RedHat Enterprise Linux 4

Add Printer

  1. Open the Printer Setup Utility
    • Depending on your system, it may be found by clicking on the main Applications menu, selecting System Settings and then Printing
    • Otherwise, you may be able to use the command printconf from the command line
  2. Click on New
  3. Click on Forward
  4. Give the printer a name and short description
  5. For "Select a queue type:" select Networked UNIX (LPD)
    • For "Server" enter lns61.lns.cornell.edu
    • For "Queue" enter w374_xrx_3450
    • Click Forward
  6. Leave the "Printer Manufacturer" as Generic, and choose PostScript Printer
  7. click Forward
  8. Click Finish
