Cleaning Trash on Central Filesystems (Samba): Tuesday, 20-Dec-2022

Beginning on Tuesday, 20-Dec-2022, Trash folders on CLASSE central filesystems (a.k.a. samba) will be cleaned up on a daily basis: deleted files that have not been accessed in the past 90 days will be permanently removed from disk. Files removed in this fashion can be recovered from CLASSE backups if they were on a backed-up filesystem and were backed up at least once. This change does not affect Trash or Recycle Bin folders on local Mac and Windows computers. However, CLASSE Linux systems (including individual desktops and laptops) are affected because all Linux filesystems are central. If you have any questions or concerns about automatic trash cleanup, please submit a ServiceRequest.

[PSA] Automatic Zoom/Teams Meetings in Outlook Calendar

Microsoft recently added a new feature to Outlook where a Zoom or Teams meeting is automatically scheduled whenever a Calendar event is created. To adjust the default behavior of this new option, please consult the documentation from CIT.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
