Power Outage Recovery Status

Following the scheduled power outages at Wilson Lab last week, all central CLASSE-IT services have now been restored. If you encounter problems with your individual computer or with other computing resources, please:
  • First, try rebooting your computer, if possible.
  • Then, submit a ServiceRequest if the problem remains.

GitLab Update: Tuesday, 22-Jul-2025 @ 10:00 AM

On Tuesday, 22-Jul-2025, at 10:00 AM, the CLASSE GitLab will be unavailable for approximately one hour for a series of updates. Please submit a ServiceRequest if you have any questions or concerns.

Ansys Licensing on CLASSE Computers: Thursday, 31-Jul-2025

On Thursday, 31-Jul-2025, we are updating the Ansys license server for CLASSE-managed computers. As a result, to continue using this software, you will need to download from AppsAnywhere the latest versions of Ansys (v2024R2rel2) and Ansys EM (2024R2).

Microsoft Teams on CLASSE-Managed Windows Computers

Microsoft is currently in the process of retiring the Classic Teams app in favor of New Teams. Unfortunately, New Teams cannot be installed as a desktop client on CLASSE-managed Windows computers until we migrate our Windows systems to Windows 11 (or higher), which is anticipated for later this year — see here for more details. In the meantime, Windows users may follow these instructions to install New Teams as a Progressive Web App in their web browsers, which provides a similar experience to the desktop client.

[PSA] Upcoming Cornell Wifi Interruptions

Please note the following upgrades of CIT campus routers that will cause 30-minute interruptions of Cornell networking (e.g. RedRover, eduroam, and Cornel Visitor wifi):



General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.

The BeamPASS application receives bug fixes and new features on Tuesdays. When these updates are made, users will be logged out but should be able to login again within a few minutes. If you find BeamPASS is unavailable for longer than that, please submit a ServiceRequest.
