From Monday, 01-Dec-2025, to Friday, 05-Dec-2025, CLASSE computing services both onsite and offsite will be disrupted by a scheduled power outage on Wednesday, 03-Dec-2025, that will impact the Wilson Lab Server Room. Please see this wiki page for a detailed schedule of outages.

NoMachine Update: Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025

If you are a NoMachine user, at the end of Monday, 10-Nov-2025 (today), please save your work and log out of any NoMachine Virtual Desktops. On Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025, starting at 4:00 AM, all NoMachine servers will be updated to the latest release. When this update occurs, remote connections will be interrupted and all NoMachine Virtual Desktops will be deleted. Please submit a ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns.

Network Disruptions: Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025 @ 10:00 AM

On Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, there will be brief 5-minute network interruptions on all CLASSE networks due to upgrades of CLASSE core networking equipment and firewalls. Connectivity to external sites will also be affected.

GitLab Update: Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025 @ 10:00 AM

On Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025, at 10:00 AM, the CLASSE GitLab will be unavailable for approximately one hour for a series of updates. Please submit a ServiceRequest if you have any questions or concerns.

CLASSE Account Self-Service Upgrade: Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025 @ 11:00 AM

On Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025, starting at 11:00 AM, the CLASSE Account Self-Service web application (used for managing group membership, requesting and extending accounts, etc.) will taken offline for an upgrade that may last until the end of the day. After the upgrade, users will see a new login prompt, and CLASSE Duo two-factor authentication will be required. Please submit a ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns.

LNX201 Reboot: Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025 @ 11:00 AM

On Tuesday, 11-Nov-2025, at 11:00 AM, we will be rebooting LNX201, our general purpose Linux login node. As a reminder, please use LNX201 only as a landing pad and for basic productivity tasks. All CPU and memory intensive jobs should be submitted to the CLASSE Compute Farm. Please submit a ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.

The BeamPASS application receives bug fixes and new features on Tuesdays. When these updates are made, users will be logged out but should be able to login again within a few minutes. If you find BeamPASS is unavailable for longer than that, please submit a ServiceRequest.
