Cornell's on-campus email services are terminating

If you haven't already, you'll soon be receiving an emailed notice about Cornell's on-campus email services going away. It is not a phish. Two major consequences are in how spam and mail forwarding are handled, and you may need to update your settings using Cornell webmail. For details, please see https://it.cornell.edu/news/upcoming-change-staff-email-and-office-365/20170829

Please exit from idle Mathematica jobs

The Lab has only 7 Mathematica licenses which have to be shared by everyone who is using it at the same time. Please exit from Mathematica if you're not going to be using it for a while so others can use it, too.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Week 2: Secure at Work

  • Back it up: keep important files on Samba
  • Secure your accounts with strong passwords: make them hard to guess
  • Report anything suspicious: please let us know if you have doubts about a communication
  • Attend an in-person event. See https://it.cornell.edu/ncsam/cyber-security-person-events

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
