CLASSE Wiki Server Upgrade: Thursday, 13-Sep-2018 @ 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM

For improved HTML5 support, the CLASSE wiki server will be upgraded on Thursday, 13-Sep-2018 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Cornell Box Files in Inactive Accounts

On September 2, CIT changed the way that inactive Box accounts are handled. Previously they had been left in place so that people could continue to use any files and folders shared with them. Content from inactive accounts is now being moved to a holding account for a period of time. This provides the visual notification to collaborators that such content is owned by "Deleted User." For content owned by former staff members, the area supervisor can submit a ticket to the Service Desk to have content transferred to a new owner. This transfer to a holding account and any later ownership transfer will not change any collaboration relationships already in place. In every case, the former owner has already lost access to this content. This change is necessary to recover the licenses used by departed users.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
