Update to SL6.6 on Tuesday, April 28

Starting Tuesday morning, 4/28, all CLASSE SL6 systems will update to Scientific Linux 6.6. This update will address several bugs, but otherwise should be transparent. For the 6.6 release notes, please see https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/6.6_Release_Notes/

CLASSE Cluster maintenance on Tuesday, April 28.

Starting at approximately Noon on Tuesday 4/28, the CLASSE Cluster will be rebooted and undergo routine maintenance. Many networked file systems accessed over NFS and Samba, including most unix / linux home directories, will be unavailable for up to two hours. In addition, many services and virtual machines will be unavailable for up to 30 minutes.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
