New Cornell Login page: clear your browser cache

Please clear your browser's cache. Cornell's "CU Web Login" page is changing, so its cached information is no longer valid. This already affects Cornell's "Outlook Web App" at http:outlook.cornell.edu and soon will be used for many other central services which require your Conell NetID.

Java on Windows

The recent update to Java 8 (required for security compliance) broke on a few systems. This is a known issue without any resolution from Microsoft. If you are having trouble using Java and it is required for your work, please submit a ServiceRequest and let us know what computer you are having trouble on.

In the meantime, for java-based web applications a workaround is to use the "CLASSE Grid" icon on your desktop to run Firefox from a Linux system. For complete instructions, please see WindowsRemoteLinuxScript .

1. Double-click on the CLASSE Grid.exe icon that's on your desktop.
2. A popup will appear with a drop down menu where you can select a program. Type in firefox, and click on Run

PDF on Windows

We've received reports that two PDF-Xchange installations on Windows warn of an out of date license. We are working to resolve this issue with the vendor, and have developed our own fix that we plan on pushing to affected systems during Tuesday's updates. In the meantime, you can ignore the warning and continue using PDF-Xchange as normal.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
