Accelerator Computing Mailing List

CLASSE-ACC-COMP-L is a new mailing list for announcements and discussions concerning accelerator computing such as:

• Announcing the bi-weekly accelerator computing meetings.
• Accelerator code updates and discussions (replacing the legacy acc-code HyperNews forum).

To subscribe to this list, send an email to subscribe-classe-acc-comp-l@list.cornell.edu with a subject of join . This is an open list allowing any CLASSE accelerator personnel to join, leave, and post messages.

CLASSE Samba Directories

A web-accessible list of file systems available from Samba and NFS is now generated nightly and available at https://www.classe.cornell.edu/private/computing/samba.html .

Backup Policies

The CLASSE IT group maintains nightly backups of select central file systems. When funding is available, backup requirements are evaluated when deploying new disk space for projects and groups.

In addition, one-time backups of file systems or directories can be requested through a ServiceRequest. When these requests come in, we obtain an account for purchasing the necessary backup media to accommodate that request.

Our BackupSchedule is available online, and please submit a ServiceRequest with any requests to backup or restore data.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
