CLASSE Managed Windows Firefox update 9/29/2014

CLASSE will be pushing Firefox ESR31 during standard updates on September 29th, 2014, two weeks from now. We have tested this release with our web applications and with our configuration and it works well.

CLASSE IT Service feedback

Survey

The CLASSE IT group has been including a survey link at the close of all RT Tickets for a while. However, please feel free to use it in other circumstances, too. You can use the CLASSE IT survey to provide general comments by selecting "unsatisfied" and entering your message in the comment box. These surveys are anonymous because what we receive does not include any information about who sent it other than what was put into the comments field. As a result, we cannot respond to survey comments that do not include contact information or an RT Ticket Number.

The CLASSE IT survey is available at https://cornell.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_9zSie8Pl8CSmeiN

Service Requests

Service Requests are not limited to "break/fix" requests. You can open a request with general comments, concerns, questions and requests for help with IT and CLASSE Computer Group supported tools. This is an excellent way to correspond with the CCG on any issue.

To open a service request, please email service-classe@cornell.edu or use our online ServiceRequest form (https://wiki.classe.cornell.edu/Computing/ServiceRequest). Please note that unlike the survey, service requests are not anonymous.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
