CLASSE User Disk

All CLASSE computer users are given a folder with a 20GB quota on our User filesystem. This filesystem is backed up regularly. By default, any files placed in your directory will be readable by anyone in the lab, but only writable by you. Anything placed in the top-level "private" subfolder will only be readable or writable by you.

How to Access

Operating System Path to User Disk
Linux /nfs/user/userid
Windows \\samba.classe.cornell.edu\user\userid
Macintosh cifs://samba.classe.cornell.edu/user/userid

Any files that need to be writable by other users should be placed in an appropriate project or group filesystem, not the User filesystem. In addition, several projects and groups have dedicated user disks that are not subject to the 20GB quota on the general-purpose user filesystem. For example, /nfs/acc/user and /nfs/chess/user.

Changing file permissions

Please read the Permissions page for further instructions. You can also contact the Computer Group for help with changing the default permissions or locating an appropriate project or group filesystem.
