Remote Control with Zoom

Start meeting

  1. Start zoom
    • If you're on a Linux computer, type zoom from a terminal or click on "Applications" -> "Internet" -> "Zoom"
  2. Click "Sign In", and then "Sign In with SSO"
  3. Type "cornell" in the company domain name, and click on "Continue"
    1. proceed to sign in with your Cornell netid
  4. After logging in, select "New Meeting"
    1. select your audio conference options
  5. Click "Manage Invitations," and copy or send the meeting URL to your remote users.

Lock meeting

The owner of the meeting can lock the meeting, after which no new participants can join, even if they have the meeting ID and password. If a meeting isn't locked, anyone who happens to have the URL or invitation for your meeting can join.

When you’re in the meeting, click Participants at the bottom of your Zoom window.
  • In the participants pop-up box, click the Lock Meeting button.
  • If you don't see "Lock Meeting," click on More and then Lock Meeting

Share screen

  1. Click on "Share Screen" from the computer that you want to share a screen from
  2. Select the desktop you would like to share, or an individual applicatoin window. click on "Share"
    • To pause or stop sharing your desktop, move the mouse to the top of the screen and click on "Stop Share" or "Pause Share"
  3. Request or give remote control
    • Only the meeting host can grant remote control
