NUMO Web App

A MySQL database and Java web application have been developed to replace the text-based numo app that runs on VMS. This can currently be accessed after authenticating with a CLASSE Credential at https://www.classe.cornell.edu/numo/ .

Description

The CLASSE drafting office maintains an electronic index of all "official" CLASSE issued drawings. Both CAD and manually drafted drawings are indexed. This is casually referred to as the NUMO index. Information available on every CLASSE issued drawing includes: CAD or manual format, size of the drawing sheets, drawing number and title, creation date/author, latest revision letter (if any), latest revision date/author, and issue status.

The NUMO database consists of the following sql tables:
  • Authors
  • Sheet
  • Drawing Size
  • Drawing Type
  • Lns Drawings
  • Series
  • University Affiliation

Searching

To search for a drawing:
  1. Browse to https://www.classe.cornell.edu/numo/
  2. Click on "Sheet"
  3. Enter your search criteria in the fields above the table, and click on "Search"
    • if you add text to multiple fields, the search results will show drawings that meet all (not any) of the criteria you specified.
    • If you enter multiple strings in a field, the results will show any drawing that matches any of the strings you list. For example, if you enter vacuum chamber in the Sheet Title field, you will find any drawing that has a title containing either vacuum or chamber.
    • you can use quotes to search for an exact phrase. For example, "vacuum chamber" will only find titles that contain "vacuum chamber"
    • if you enter multiple words or strings surrounded by quotes, the results will show any drawing that matches all of the strings you list. For example, if you enter "breakdown" "pulse" in the Sheet Title field, you will find any drawing that has a title containing both breakdown and pulse.
  4. By default, numo will display 30 records at a time. If you would like to view all of your search results on one page, click on the "View All Search Items" button instead of the "Search" button.
  5. Click on a column header to sort by that column, or to change between ascending and descending.

View All

To view every drawing:
  1. Browse to https://www.classe.cornell.edu/numo/
  2. Click on "Sheet"
  3. Click on "View All". Please be patient =).
    • The default ordering is ascending by document number
  4. Click on a column header to sort by that column, or to change between ascending and descending. Please be patient =).

Notes

  1. If you are a member of the "numo" active directory group, you will have the ability to create, edit, and delete information. Otherwise, you will only have the ability to search for and browse information. To request addition to the numo group, please see Tim.
  2. The browser's back arrow can behave unpredictably when you're trying to back out of a search. In general, it's better to modify your search in the input boxes or jump back to the main listing.
