Sample Positioning

XAS Experiments

For XAS measurements, the sample is mounted on an x/z stage, allowing movement up / down (z) and transverse to the beam (x). These motors are sampleZ and sampleX.

XES / HERFD Experiments

During XES measurements, the sample can be translated via an x/y/z stage, where z is up / down, y is along the beam, and x is transverse to the beam. The motor names here are davesz, davesy, and davesx; davesz can be moved independently but davesx and davesy must always be moved together and by the same amount (i.e. the position of davesx must always = the position of davesy).
