Firefox update to ESR31 on CLASSE Managed Windows Computers

We will be updating Firefox to ESR31 tonight during our normal updates. Note that its user interface is different from the previous versions of Firefox. People using Firefox at home should be familiar with it, though.

Are my files backed up?

Not all samba areas are backed up. To find out if the files you save are backed up, please visit our complete files system listing https://www.classe.cornell.edu/private/computing/filesystems.html with our corresponding backup schedule https://wiki.classe.cornell.edu/Computing/BackupSchedule . If you are still unsure if your files are being backed up, please send email to service-classe@cornell.edu.

If you discover that an important samba directory is not being backed up, please contact the CLASSE computer group immediately.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
