Changing path of “My Documents” on Windows 2000

  1. Right-click on ‘My Documents’ icon on the desktop. Choose ‘properties’.
  2. In the ‘My Documents Properties’ dialogue box, click on ‘Move’.
  3. In the ‘Browse For Folder’ dialogue box, click in the ‘Folder’ text box and enter the following string: Z:\%username%\My Documents
  4. Click ‘OK’ and then ‘Apply’.
  5. When prompted to move current contents of ‘My Documents’ to the new location choose ‘Yes’.
  6. When prompted to move ‘Desktop.ini’ choose ‘Yes’.
  7. You’re done.
