LEPP Matlab Upgrade to 2013a

LEPP currently uses Matlab 2010a as the standard Matlab deployment. This version is now 3 years old, and as part of our 3 year update cycle on Matlab, it is time to upgrade to the current version. LEPP is now testing Matlab 2013a for deployment and availability across Windows and Linux computers.
  • For Windows:
    • We will be scheduling an upgrade for computers currently running Matlab during our standard Monday update in the next few weeks.
  • For Linux:

  • If you need access to the newer version for testing, please submit a ServiceRequest.
  • If you have questions or concerns about the upgrade, please submit a ServiceRequest.

CLASSE Safety Handbook Authentication

On Tuesday 4/16 from 10am-12pm, the CLASSE Safety Handbook will be reconfigured to authenticate using CLASSE credentials instead of LEPP credentials. When the change is complete, you will login to the CLASSE Safety Handbook using the same username and password used to login to the CLASSE VPN, CLASSE Windows computers, etc.

This will not affect anyone who is accessing the safety handbook from any CLASSE Network or after logging into the CLASSE VPN. This change will only affect users who try to access Private (restricted) safety handbook pages from offsite.

For help changing or resetting your CLASSE credentials, please email service-classe@cornell.edu or view the following documentation: https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/UserAccountsAndPasswords#4_Windows_CLASSE

When the update is complete, an announcement will be sent to the CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L mailing list. To subscribe to this list, please see: https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/ClasseNews

Please note that this change does not affect access to the CLASSE Training Database. A significant amount of work is needed to upgrade the training database to use CLASSE Authentication. Until this work is complete, users will still login to the training database using LEPP Network Principals. To reduce the confusion and disruption from the migration to CLASSE Authentication for all CLASSE Services, please view http://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/Obsolete/CLASSESinglePassword .

Wilson Lab RedRover Wireless user issues

There have been reports by some users that RedRover still is not performing consistently, or to their expectations. CIT is very much committed in resolving any remaining issues with RedRover at Wilson, and has expressed their interest to come on site and work with individuals who are experiencing problems. To this end, it is important for any users who are having problems to make a note of the date/time when it happens, plus the type of problem, and communicate them to us so we can coordinate with CIT's engineering staff to try and resolve the issues. For the next two weeks please submit a ServiceRequest with the details of your wireless issues at Wilson.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
