CLASSE Central Filesystems
In order to ensure the security and availability of your data, it is important you store them in central file systems. This allows us to backup and restore your data when needed, and ensures your data is located on redundant high-performance and high-availability storage systems in our secure server rooms.
Most of our central file systems are available from Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. A complete list of all available file systems, updated nightly, is available at
https://www.classe.cornell.edu/private/computing/filesystems.html

New User Orientation
The CLASSE IT group will be holding new user orientation sessions immediately following the safety orientation meetings every month (2nd Wednesday of the month). Anyone is welcome to attend and learn more about computing here at the lab. If you want to attend just the computing part of the meeting, that usually starts around 11:30 am.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
