Windows XP, XP x64: You've used LNSNTCAD for a long time. However, it is an "NT Domain" which Microsoft no longer supports. Newer versions of Windows such as Windows 7 cannot use it. Over the next year we will be migrating existing Windows XP systems from LNSNTCAD to CLASSE. There will be more information available as your group is closer to being migrated.
Windows 7: You are already on CLASSE. You do not need to do anything.
Linux, Mac: You will be provided CLASSE accounts as you were LNSNTCAD accounts. Certain services will authenticate to CLASSE or LNSNTCAD and any changes will be announced here and as appropriate in directed mailings.
The CLASSE domain's database and software will undergo maintenance during most Tuesday downs between 10AM and Noon. Generally this will not cause an outage for users. Announcements will be made if an outage is expected.
WinApp - Select Windows Applications will be available on a "Windows Terminal Server".
CLASSE accounts are required to log in to the terminal server.
Please only keep applications open while you are using them.
Windows XP, XP x64: Project 2007 is available for 10 concurrent users.
Windows 7: Project 2007 is available for 10 concurrent users.
Linux, Mac: Word and Project 2007 are available. Outlook 2007 can be used, but only after the computer group helps you get it configured.
During Tuesday CLASSE Domain maintenance, WinApp may be scheduled for updates. During the reboot period, the terminal server will be unavailable and open sessions will close.
E-Mail on Linux
Thunderbird is being deprecated by LEPP in response to CIT moving away from it with Exchange. While you can continue to use Thunderbird, we will be treating it as unsupported software and recommend considering OWA (Outlook Web Access) via exchange.cornell.edu or running Outlook via our Terminal Server for the full client. Please see the above section on WinApp.
LEPP VPN service
We can set up LEPP managed laptops with our VPN software. This will allow you to get to any service on our public network from off our network (e.g. the Inventor Vault server). Submit a service request to get set up if you need it.
PSB Printing
We have deployed two printers to the PSB. On the third floor of the PSB there is a black and white printer called PSB3_BR_5370. This is a Brother 5370DW duplex printer. On the fourth floor, we have deployed the printer from the Newman 3rd floor -- N327_XRX_4510. When the color printer arrives, we will change the N327 printer name to the new PSB name.
