ELOG Software Update - Noon Tuesday, January 26
All of the CLASSE ELOG servers will be updated at Noon Tuesday, January 26. Significant changes from our over 3-year-old installation include:
- Switched to CKEditor with support of Drag & Drop upload of attachments and images.
- Support for autosaving entries to ensures that changes you've made will not be lost. Note, however, that messages that are being edited will not appear in the list until they are submitted. However, you can still view this (or any) entry by manually appending the message number to the URL for your logbook.
- Updated authentication support, which removes the requirement for users to manually register with ELOG before they can view or subscribe to a logbook. In addition, if you already have a CLASSE kerberos ticket you won't need to authenticate separately with the ELOG server. Note, however, that you may need to enter your full username and email address the first time you access the updated server.
More information on the CLASSE ELOG servers is available at

The Red Hat Developer Toolset 4 is now available, but to install we'll need to first remove the Developer Toolset 1.1. Please email
service-classe@cornell.edu if you are using the Developer Toolset 1.1 on a CLASSE managed linux box to access GCC 4.7.2 (including gfortran), GDB 7.5, etc. and cannot update to the more recent versions of these packages that are available from the developer toolset 2, 3, or 4.
For information on Developer Toolset 1.1, please see

Information on what will be provided with Developer Toolset 4 is available at

CLASSE Managed Windows computers: Flash update
- We will be updating to 20.0.0.286 during our next scheduled update window tonight.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
