Computing Newsletter -- January 3, 2011

This is the first of our weekly newsletters to let you know what's happening in computing at LEPP. We will attempt to keep each issue concise and to the point.

Printing: PC00 and PC69 are being deprecated. Most printing has been moved off of LNS61.

  • Windows XP: Please print to PC221.
  • Windows XP x64: Please contact service-lepp@cornell.edu if you need printing changed off of PC00 or PC69.
  • Windows 7: Printers are automatically populated. You do not need to take any action.
  • Linux: Please print to cups.lns.cornell.edu.
  • Mac: Please print to cups.lns.cornell.edu.
  • Please contact service-lepp@cornell.edu if you need help.

Network File Storage: PC50 is being deprecated. Use SAMBA or appropriate RAID space.

PC50 Users space (also known as Z drive)

  • Windows XP, Windows XP x64: We are slowly moving users to \\samba\user. If you would like to be moved soon, please submit a service request. Instructions on using the new space can be found in https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/UserDisk
  • Windows 7: You need take no action. Does not have a Z drive set up.
  • Linux and Mac: Please stop using PC50 if you currently are. All OSs can access SAMBA. Please check with your project manager on appropriate RAID space for project specific files.
