EDMS Maintenance

On Tuesday March 13 starting at 10am, LEPP's Invenio installation will be updated to v1.0.0. During this time, all services running on edms will be unavailable. This includes our DocumentDatabase (https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/DocumentDatabase) and Indico ConferenceManagement system (https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/ConferenceManagement).

Batch Setup Scripts

LEPP supports a compute farm using the Grid Engine batch queuing system. To properly setup ones environment, please be sure to source any project or program related setup scripts in your batch script. For example, CESR users need to source CESRDEFS or acc_vars.sh in their batch script. Likewise, CLEO users source the CLEO setup in their batch script while CMS users source the CMS setup scripts.

Scientific Linux 4

Scientific Linux 4 has reached the end of its 7 year life cycle. As such, LEPP will be attempting to upgrade from SL4 (and earlier) to SL6 wherever possible. For more information on ScientificLinux6, please see https://wiki.lepp.cornell.edu/lepp/bin/view/Computing/ScientificLinux6 .

Daylight Savings Time springs forward this weekend

Clocks in the U.S. will advance by one hour at 2AM Sunday morning, March 11. It won't happen in Europe for another two weeks.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
