Microsoft Windows Performance

Ever wonder what makes your Windows machine run sluggishly or crash all the time? We have a write up about some causes we've found over the years. Among our suggestions for maintaining peak Windows performance, the main one is to limit the number of software packages installed. See https://wiki.classe.cornell.edu/Computing/WindowsPerformance.

Outlook email problems

If you are having problems when using Outlook to read your email, instead please use Outlook Web App at http://outlook.cornell.edu/

Cornell's central IT service has reported this (Monday) morning that some faculty and staff are not seeing new email when using Outlook to access Office 365. Microsoft is working on the issue.

If Outlook Web App does not work for you, please call 607-255-4882 and ask for the CLASSE IT group.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
