Today's topics:
/nfs/acc/temp, /nfs/acc/libs, and Accelerator SVN Repository maintenance
At 10am on Tuesday 11/4, we will begin maintenance on the /nfs/acc/temp and /nfs/acc/libs file systems. For up to one hour, these file systems will be unavailable. Note that this will also affect the central Accelerator SVN repostitor, accserv .
Samba maintenance
The samba server will be restarted at approximately 10am Tuesday 11/4. This should be transparent, but clients may be momentarily disconnected.
New Self Service CLASSE Password Options
We are providing a new Web service to allow users to reset their CLASSE password. This may be useful if you are off site and are uncomfortable with the current SSH + Linux based password change methods. You can also use it to reset your password if you have forgotten your CLASSE password.
Simply browse to
https://www.classe.cornell.edu/pwm
and log in with your current password for an immediate password change, or click on "Account Activation / Password Reset" below if you have forgotten your password.
NOTE: This is for your CLASSE password ONLY. This does not change your legacy passwords such as LNS or VMS passwords. It also does not affect your Cornell
NetID account.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
