Project Management

After extensive research and evaluation, the CLASSE IT group recently deployed Active Collab (https://www.activecollab.com) for project management (in part, as a replacement for MS Project). It integrates with CLASSE credentials, and is available for use by any CLASSE user, group, or project. Please see https://projects.classe.cornell.edu, and email service-classe@cornell.edu for help getting started. Although https://projects.classe.cornell.edu is currently only available from a CLASSE network (or our VPN), it could be made available offsite if needed.

Insecure encryption protocols

Cornell has done some work to ensure insecure encryption (TLSv1.1 and earlier, and all versions of SSL) protocols are no-longer in use. All "major" browsers support TLSv1.2, so please consider updating your browser if you receive "encryption" or "handshake" errors when trying to browse CLASSE or Cornell websites. CLASSE officially supports Firefox ESR v38.3.0, although newer versions of Firefox should work as well.

CLASSE Password Expiration

Microsoft Active Directory requires that passwords expire after 999 days. Two weeks before your password expires, you will receive an email notification with a subject of "Netwrix Auditor: Password Expiration Report - classe.cornell.edu". In general, the easiest way to set your CLASSE password to a new value is to use https://www.classe.cornell.edu/pwm/public/ActivateUser

Linux Mathematica Update to version 10.2

We have installed the latest Linux version of Mathematica, version 10.2. For documentation and information on it's use, please see our Mathmatica CLASSE wiki: https://wiki.classe.cornell.edu/Computing/MatheMatica

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
