ParaView at CLASSE

Usage

From a CLASSE Linux system, using console graphics (local graphics card hardware), type:

/nfs/opt/paraview/bin/paraview

For remote use (via X2Go or X-Windows session), please follow either of the instruction sets:

• Use "sofware" graphics rendering

  /nfs/opt/paraview/bin/paraview-mesa paraview

• OR

• Separating the render server from the client. To do this by using the Compute Farm, with qrsh, first request an interactive session

  qrsh -q interactive.q xfce4-terminal

• Then type:

  /nfs/opt/paraview/bin/paraview-mesa pvserver

• Then on your local computer (i.e. another X2Go terminal window), type:

  /nfs/opt/paraview/bin/paraview-mesa paraview

• Then connect to the server shown on the Farm node in the xfce4-terminal by using File -> Connect and press the add server button, change the name from "Untitled" to "PV_Farm" and change the URL to the hostname of the Farm node the pvserver is running on. You will then be connected to that Farm node
