Emittance Diagnostic Tool (ε') Project

This webpage will serve as a central location to find references regarding the ε' project, as it develops.

Project Outline:

To better understand the sources of emittance dilution in an accelerator, the emittance diagnostic tool (ε') was created. This tool, created by Christopher Pierce, is a General Particle Tracer (GPT) custom element which allows for the separation of different forces acting on GPT macroparticles, and calculating the portions of emittance growth due to nonlinear beamline elements, space charge, and energy spread in the beam. This project serves to validate the ε' tool, and to evaluate its applicability as a diagnostic tool.
