CBETA System Tests - FFA Corrector Power Supplies and Magnetic Field Checks

  • Responsible personnel: xxxx
  • Date: February xx, 2019

Description of test

Confirm that all EPICS IOC names communicate with the expected corrector power supply, and confirm that the power supply current produces the expected polarity and magnetic field on the coresponding corrector coil.

Test Procedure

  • Open the EDM screen xxxxx
  • (add screen snapshot of EDM screen)
  • Click on XXX for every power supply to turn all power supplies OFF.
  • Click on XXX to turn the power supply ON
    • Expected result: The expected power supply turns ON
  • Enter 1 A in the field labeled xxx
    • Expected result: The respective power supply readback indicates 1 A in the field xxx
  • Use Lakeshore Model 410 gaussmeter to measure the magnetic field of the corresponding corrector magnet.
    • Locate the probe at center of the steel without the winding, outside of the magnet (top and bottom for horiz coils, beam left and beam right for vert coils) (see photos below)
    • Measure the magnetic field on the top and bottom for the horizontal coils
    • Measure the magnetic field on the left and right for the vertical coils
    • Probe north is oriented up for horiz coil
    • Probe north is oriented beam right for vertical coil
    • The black button indicates probe north. See sketch below showing that the black button indicates positive polarity
    • Expected results: The magnetic field measurement indicates +60 gauss (+/- a few gauss) on the top and bottom for the horizontal coils. The magnetic field measurement indicates +60 gauss (+/- a few gauss) on the left and right for the vertical coils.

Actual results

(02/xx/2019, name) As expected or explain what did not operate as expected
