Possible Brief Service Interruption: Tuesday, 21-Feb-2023 @ 10:30 AM

On Tuesday, 21-Feb-2023, at 10:30 AM, we will be performing UPS maintenance on the CLASSE virtual machine cluster. Although we do not expect this maintenance to be disruptive, there is a slight chance of a brief outage of the following services: NoMachine Cloud Server, ScreenConnect, AppsAnywhere, Globus, Autodesk Vault, WinAPP, Pritunl, RSLogixApp, GitLab, and JupyterHub. If you have any questions or concerns, please submit a ServiceRequest.

GitLab Update: Tuesday 21-Feb-2023 @ 11:30 AM

On Tuesday, 21-Feb-2023, at 11:30 AM, the CLASSE GitLab will be unavailable for approximately one hour for a series of updates. Please submit a ServiceRequest if you have any questions or concerns.

NoMachine Update: Tuesday, 28-Feb-2023

If you are a NoMachine user, at the end of the day, next Monday, 27-Feb-2023, please save your work and log out of any NoMachine Virtual Desktops. On Tuesday, 28-Feb-2023, starting at 4:00 AM, all NoMachine servers will be updated to the latest release. When this update occurs, remote connections will be interrupted and all NoMachine Virtual Desktops will be deleted. This release includes one bug fix and one feature request submitted by CLASSE, but otherwise should be transparent. Please submit a ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns.

Autodesk 2023 Product Rollout: Starting Friday, 03-Mar-2023

This March, CLASSE-IT will upgrade its Autodesk products to the new 2023 version. As part of this Autodesk Vault will be unavailable from Friday, 03-Mar-2023 at 3:00 PM until Tuesday, 07-Mar-2023 at 10:00 AM. Please check-in all of your files to Vault before before 3:00 PM on 03-Mar-2023 so that they can be updated to the new format. More details about the Autodesk 2023 upgrade will be communicated via CLASSE-INVENTOR-ANNOUNCE-L, the CLASSE Inventor mailing list.

[PSA] Graphing with Excel

Please be aware that CLASSE-IT does not recommend Microsoft Excel for scientific data analysis. It has been noted that Excel can produce inaccurate plots and graphs of spreadsheet data. Known issues of this nature are documented on this wiki page. For alternatives to Excel for plotting/graphing, please see PlottingGraphingPackages.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
