Changes to Adobe Creative Cloud Licensing
Because of changes to Cornell's contract with Adobe, users of Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) must now have an individual Adobe ID
, and CLASSE-IT must ask CIT for individual Adobe IDs to be authorized. The new Adobe contract only allows for a limited number of Cornell users.
In particular, this change affects users of of Adobe CC on WinAPP2
. To request access to Adobe CC:
- Create an Adobe ID with your Cornell email address, if you don't have one already:
- Go to https://www.adobe.com, click "Sign In" in the upper right, click "Get an Adobe ID" below the blue "Sign In" button.
- In the form that comes up, enter your personal details, a good password, and your Cornell email address (netID@cornell.edu) in the email address box.
- Submit a CLASSE-IT ServiceRequest with
- A brief description of your business responsibilities that require Adobe CC software.
- A list of the specific Adobe CC applications you need.
- We will then forward this information to CU Software.

Reboot of WinAPP2: Tuesday, 13-Nov-2018 @ 10:00 AM
Tomorrow, Tuesday, 13-Nov-2018, the Windows terminal server WinAPP2
will be rebooted for updates and will be unavilable for up to two hours.
Decommissioning of /nfs/thry/drpv: Wednesday, 14-Nov-2018
On Wednesday, November 14, we will be decommissioning one of the HEP theory filesystems, /nfs/thry/drpv. This filesystem was originally allocated for temporary use, and the space now needs to be reclaimed for other purposes. Any files to be retained should be moved or copied to a different location. A listing of all available filesystems at CLASSE can be found here: https://www.classe.cornell.edu/private/computing/filesystems.html
ACCFS Upgrade: Tuesday, 20-Nov-2018 @ 10:00 AM
On Tuesday, 20-Nov-2018, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, the central accelerator filesystem server -- accfs -- will be migrated to Scientific Linux 7. During this time, the filesystems listed below will be unavailable. When the upgrade is complete, clients should resume where they left off. In rare cases, it may be necessary or expedient to reboot client computers that are having trouble after the upgrade.
Upcoming CLASSE Cluster Upgrade
Over the next couple of months, the central CLASSE infrastructure cluster will be gradually upgraded to Scientific Linux 7. Throughout this process, there will be periodic outages for various file systems and services (such as ACCFS above). Each interruption will be planned and announced well in advance. Please submit a ServiceRequest
with any questions or concerns.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12 noon to 2:00 PM.
The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter
and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L
, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM
, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations
