Network Maintenance: Tuesday, 27-Nov-2018 @ 10 AM

On Tuesday, 27-Nov-2018, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, we will be performing some network maintenance which may cause intermittent network outages to the CLASSE Compute Farm (including CLASSE GRID) and the Wilson Lab East Module.

CHESS Website and CLASSE Database Maintenance: Tuesday, 27-Nov-2018 @ 12 Noon

On Tuesday, 27-Nov-2018, from 12:00 noon to 12:30 PM, the CHESS website (www.chess.cornell.edu) and central CLASSE mysql database (classedb) will be down for maintenance.

GlassFish and Tomcat Service Restart: Tuesday, 27-Nov-2018 @ 12:00 Noon

On Tuesday, 27-Nov-2018, there will be a Java update on our Linux systems. For good housekeeping, at 12:00 noon, we will restart the GlassFish and Tomcat web application servers, which will momentarily disrupt the following services: cesrglass, cesrglass2, glassfish-dev, pwm, xmpp, and webprotege.

CLASSE VPN Certificate File Update

As we mentioned in last week's newsletter, because of an expired security certificate, all computers (both personal and CLASSE-managed) that connect to the CLASSE VPN need to be updated with a new certificate file.

• CLASSE-managed Windows laptops: The update will automatically be applied the next time your laptop is connected to the CLASSE wired network (with wireless disabled). If you need to use the VPN before then, please submit a ServiceRequest to schedule a manual remote update.
• CLASSE-managed Mac laptops: We have contacted users individually to schedule an update. Please submit a ServiceRequest if you have not heard from us.
• Personal computers: Please update your CA.pem file according to the instructions here: https://wiki.classe.cornell.edu/Computing/CmpGrp/Obsolete/OpenVPN#General_Instructions_47_Important_Files

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
