Pydio Service Shutdown: Tuesday, 30-Oct-2018

We introduced the CLASSE Pydio service (https://pydio.classe.cornell.edu/pydio) in 2014 to provide web access to CLASSE central filesystems. Given the low usage of Pydio, we will be decommissioning this service on Tuesday, 30-Oct-2018. Please submit a ServiceRequest if you have any concerns. For documentation on accessing central filesystems, please see NetworkedFilesystems.

CHESS-DAQ Upgrade and Rotation

The CHESS DAQ Cluster will be upgraded to Scientific Linux 7 throughout the week of 05-Nov-2018 to 09-Nov-2018. There will be a general outage of all of the following services and file systems from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on 05-Nov-2018, with brief interruptions throughout the rest of the week.
  • All raw DAQ data, including the current run, previous run, and any restored directories.
  • All raw Maia data, including the current run, previous run, and any restored directories.
  • The CHESS Auxiliary file system - /nfs/chess/aux, or \\chesssamba\auxiliary
  • The CHESS Scratch file system - /nfs/chess/scratch, or \\chesssamba\scratch
  • The CHESS User file system - /nfs/chess/user, or \\chesssamba\user
  • The new EPICS Archiver Appliance.

By 09-Nov-2018, the DAQ and MAIA file systems will be rotated and ready for the 2018-3 run (ad hoc data collection, not an official CHESS run). At this time, all raw data from the 2018-1 run will be removed from disk. Please submit a ServiceRequest with any data from 2018-1 that you would like to remain on disk.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
