Nudge Software on CLASSE-Managed Macs: Tuesday, 25-Apr-2023

On Tuesday, 25-Apr-2023, to improve the security of CLASSE-Managed Macs, CLASSE-IT will install an application known as Nudge, which has been provided by CIT. Nudge will gently notify users of macOS security updates that they should manually install. These updates cannot be automatically installed by CLASSE-IT. When you receive a Nudge notification, please install the macOS update as soon as possible. You can defer an update for up to 30 days, but after that time, the Nudge notification can no longer be dismissed, and you must install the updates per Cornell's Information Security Policy 5.10. Vivaldi Upgrade: Tuesday, 25-Apr-2023

On Tuesday, 25-Apr-2023, during the weekly maintenance period, the Vivaldi web browser will be upgraded to version 6 on all CLASSE-managed computers. This version of Vivaldi includes one major new feature known as Workspaces, which can be accessed through the tab bar. If you work with more than 10 tabs at once, Vivaldi Workspaces allow you to organize your tabs while improving browser performance. General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
