Run Lenovo Updates on CLASSE-Managed Windows Computers
On CLASSE-managed Lenovo computers, the Lenovo System Update utility is used to push new firmware and hardware drivers directly from Lenovo, which can, in particular, help resolve video and network issues observed with laptop docks. If you have a CLASSE-managed Windows Lenovo computer, please run the Lenovo System Update manually once per month by following these instructions:
- Go to the Start Menu and scroll down (search won't find it) and click on "lenovo" and then "System Update".
- Click through and select the recommended updates.
- Install the updates and reboot when prompted.
In some cases, a reboot will be required, so please plan accordingly. Please submit a
ServiceRequest if you have any questions or concerns about these instructions.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
