Preparing for Autodesk 2021: Monday, 05-Apr-2021

In preparation for a future Autodesk 2021 upgrade, Autodesk users are requested to keep their computers plugged in, turned on, and connected to the CLASSE VPN at the close of business today, Monday, 05-Apr-2021 (in order to receive a required update overnight). Please also reboot your computer tomorrow, Tuesday, 06-Apr-2021 after 8:00 AM.

CHESS DAQ Rotation: Tuesday, 06-Apr-2021 @ 11:00 AM

On Tuesday, 06-Apr-2021 at 11:00 AM, we will rotate the main CHESS-DAQ filesystems in preparation for the upcoming 2021-2 run. Unless you have already made arrangements or notified service-classe@cornell.edu, all data from 2020-3 will be removed from disk.

Reboot of LNX201: Tuesday, 06-Apr-2021 @ 12:00 Noon

On Tuesday, 06-Apr-2021, at 12:00 noon, our general purpose Linux login node, LNX201, will be rebooted for routine maintenance. Please log out of LNX201 before this time.

NoMachine Update: Tuesday, 06-Apr-2021

On Tuesday, 06-Apr-2021, starting at 4:00 AM, all NoMachine servers will be updated to the latest release. When this update occurs, any remote sessions will disconnect and any virtual desktops will quit. The update to each server will take a minute or two, after which you will be able to reconnect to the physical display and create new virtual desktops as usual.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
