Spring Down Maintenance: Tuesday, 30-Mar-2021

On Tuesday, 30-Mar-2021, we will be performing minor maintenance on the central CLASSE infrastructure cluster, the CHESS-DAQ cluster, and networking for the Compute Farm and Wilson Lab East/Center Modules. In addition to potential network glitches throughout the day, there will be a one-hour network outage in the East and Center Modules at 1:00-2:00 PM. Please submit a ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns about this maintenance work.

NoMachine update: Tuesday, 30-Mar-2021 @ 10:00AM

Between 10:00 and 10:30AM Tuesday, 30-Mar-2021, all NoMachine servers will be updated to the latest release. When the update occurs, any remote sessions will disconnect and any virtual desktops will quit. The update to each server will take a minute or two, after which you will be able to reconnect to the physical display and create new virtual desktops as usual.

Linux Updates: Tuesday, 30-Mar-2021

On Tuesday, 30-Mar-2021, the latest Scientific Linux 7 (SL7) kernels and NVIDIA drivers will be pushed to all CLASSE SL7 boxes. Please reboot your computer after 12:00 noon on Tuesday for the updated kernel and drivers to take effect.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
