NoMachine Update: Tuesday, 24-Jan-2023

If you are a NoMachine user, at the end of the day TODAY, Monday, 23-Jan-2023, please save your work and log out of any NoMachine Virtual Desktops. On Tuesday, 24-Jan-2023, starting at 4:00 AM, all NoMachine servers will be updated to the latest release. When this update occurs, remote connections will be interrupted and all NoMachine Virtual Desktops will be deleted. Please submit a ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns.

Linux Kernel and Firmware Update: Tuesday, 24-Jan-2023

All CLASSE linux boxes will be updated with the latest kernel and firmware packages Tuesday morning, 24-Jan-2023. To ensure you are running with the latest security and bugfix packages, please reboot your computer if possible after noon on Tuesday, 24-Jan-2023.

CLASSE VPN (Pritunl) Outage: Tuesday, 24-Jan-2023 @ 10:30 AM

On Tuesday, 24-Jan-2023, at 10:30 AM, the CLASSE VPN service, Pritunl, will be unavailable for approximately 30 minutes as we apply a server update. Please submit a ServiceRequest if you have any questions or concerns.

[PSA] CAC/Weill Scientific Computing Training Series

On February 7, Cornell's Center for Advanced Computing (CAC) and Weill Cornell Medicine's Scientific Computing, ITS, and Clinical and Translational Science Center will roll out the 2023 Scientific Computing Training Series. The Zoom-based training will be available for free to all workforce members and students of Cornell, WCM, WCM-Q, and Cornell Tech. Twelve training sessions will be offered during the winter/spring semesters. Details are available here.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
