Potential Service Interruptions: Tuesday, 19-Sep-2023 @ 10:00 AM
At 10:00 AM on Tuesday, 19-Sep-2023, maintenance will be conducted on the CLASSE virtual machine cluster. Although no interruptions are expected, you may experience a momentary pause in access to the following servers and services.
macOS Sonoma Release
Apple has officially announced that macOS Sonoma (macOS 14) will be released on 26-Sep-2023. However, CLASSE services have not yet been evaluated for compatibility with this new operating system, so we are not upgrading CLASSE-managed Macs to Sonoma at this time. Furthermore, it is expected that Apple will drop official support for macOS Big Sur (macOS 11) around November, so CLASSE-managed Macs will be upgraded at that time to newer operating systems as necessary, for compliance with the
Cornell University Policy on Information Security.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
